NHS Princess Alexandra Hospitals Trust

Giving one of the UK's largest NHS Hospital Trusts an identity

After a competitive pitch we were very pleased to be selected and entrusted to undertake the branding requirements for the NHS Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust. The brief was to create and install personality into their hospitals, while adhering to the pre-existing NHS brand and its strict brand guidelines. The project was to also include design of a fresh new brand identity for the trust’s hospital charity.

With the trust’s NHS master brand in mind, four initial design concepts were developed providing the hospital with the tools to build a strong brand personality. We produced versatile graphics that worked alongside the main NHS identity, slogan and across all marketing literature. We created an abstract style icon with each interlinking ‘petal’ representing the trust’s five core values.

The chosen design concept is of a friendly floral shape with ‘linking leaves’, versatile enough that it can be rotated, segmented, images inserted and yet still maintain its main identity and personality. The chosen concept has been developed and applied to a wide variety of mediums throughout the hospital and it has been amended and adopted by the Charity Trust as its new identity.

Template designs have been provided for the main core areas, and a concise brand guidelines book has been produced for the PAH to adhere to and provide to all of their suppliers, from sign makers to website designers.
